Edna Vida is recognized as one of the leading artists in the Philippines today. Her choreographies have been performed locally and internationally with outstanding acclaim. She served as principal dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of Ballet Philippines for more than two decades. Upon retirement, she choreographed and directed major productions for CCP and prominent international projects.
Edna’s innumerable talents brought her to various fields. As an actor, she appeared in leading roles for CCP’s Tanghalang Pilipino and Labfest, where she also directed a play. She had two solo exhibits as a visual artist and served as columnist, dance critic and featured writer for The Philippine Star, The Manila Times, Business Daily, the CCP Encyclopedia, Town & Country, and NCCA publications. She was a grantee of the Asian Cultural Council of the Rockefeller Foundation in New York in 2012.
She continues to share her expertise as facilitator in dance lectures and creative workshops nationwide. Her multifaceted career as dancer, teacher, choreographer, director, writer and actor has garnered her major awards and marked her as a unique and distinctive Filipino artist.
